Natan@Ramaz - The Ramaz School my Natan@Ramaz One Family. Many Hearts. What is Natan@Ramaz? Natan@Ramaz – a flagship initiative of Parents Council – extends a helping hand to the entire Ramaz community, including students, parents, teachers, faculty, administration, and staff. The mission of Natan@Ramaz is to offer recognition, support, and resources to individual Ramaz community members as they experience personal life cycle events, such as births, deaths, or medical emergencies/crises. What does Natan@Ramaz do? Natan@Ramaz representatives regularly receive information about Ramaz communal life cycle events, such as births, deaths, or medical emergencies/crises. Once notified, Natan@Ramaz volunteers initiate a response of acknowledgment or support. In addition to a written or electronic acknowledgement, Natan@Ramaz might provide a gift of a Natan@Ramaz baby onesie, home-made or restaurant-provided Shiva meals, or home-made challah. Who is the support from? Gifts and support given on behalf of Natan@Ramaz are meant to be from and for everyone in the Ramaz community. Natan@Ramaz is funded by Ramaz community donations. Does Natan@Ramaz offer ongoing programs? Yes! Click on the tabs below to learn more about Natan@Ramaz’s Loaves of Love and Challah Segulah programs. Rabbi Haskel Lookstein ’49 I wanted to share with all of you that I was recently so touched by the Natan Initiative as I arrived home from the hospital on Friday with a new "stylish" diaper bag waiting for me filled with all sorts of helpful baby gear! Thank you for working so hard to make such a difference in the community to touch all of our lives in good times and challenging times. Please let me know how I can get more involved! LS Parent As a teacher I have sent you emails to inform you of births in my class families. It is quite another thing to be the recipient of Natan's chesed. I found the experience to be overwhelming. I returned home from the hospital after my recent surgery late Thursday. Friday morning I received a phone call and then a visit from a parent. She brought bags of Shabbat goodies and a big smile on her face. It feels wonderful to be part of a warm and caring community. Thank you so much! Tizku l'mitzvot. Ramaz Teacher I was moved by the immediate response of Ramaz to the news of my brother's death. I would like to pay it forward. Please let me know how. US Parent Thanks so much for the Shabbat food. It was delicious and helped a lot. Please thank the other woman who cooked for me. We appreciated it so much. MS Parent Thank you so much for your note. It means a lot to me to have my Ramaz family wishing me well. I miss my students and colleagues very much and can't wait to get back to Ramaz – when I'm well enough. LS Teacher Many thanks for your caring words, as well as the nechama offered by NATAN@Ramaz during the shiva for my father. The combination of solace and comfort food go a long way in consoling a mourner during a difficult time. With appreciation. US Parent I did receive the gift and was about to email you to thank Natan! We all really appreciate the thoughtfulness. Thank you Natan! LS Parent To my dear Ramaz family, I would like, from the bottom of my heart, to thank everyone who prayed, worried, and thought of me and my family throughout our difficult times. To each of you who shared advice – To those who were with me during the good times and bad – To those who cooked delicious food for Shabbat – And to those who ordered wonderful take-out which became the talk of the day! To each of you who called and cared, To each one who visited, whether on sunny days or rainy days. You taught me a lesson about life, a lesson about accepting, loving, and giving. I have no doubt that my healing has been easier due to your love and support. I wish you and your families good health and a lot of happiness. With much appreciation, Thank you so very much. LS Teacher Thank you very much for reaching out. Much appreciated.... Knowing that family and friends are there for us is helping us get through. I think this NATAN is a wonderful and important initiative. I hope the committee is very busy sending packages for new babies and only happy occasions. Hoping to hear good news with everyone in good health in a world of peace. Thank you. Staff Member Thank you to the whole Natan group.... Ramaz is being amazing. The emails I'm getting from the teachers, rabbis, therapists in all three departments is simply amazing! [She] is right now in another world. Even though my mother in law has been sick for a few months it wasn't expected to happen Monday night. Thank you for all being here and just simply showing you care. It's appreciated. US Parent Thanks for sharing the wonderful news. Some feedback – Natan has been amazing sharing life events with the community. Its positive impact is already apparent, changing the tenor of the communal environment. !כל הכבוד LS Parent It is a blessing for the Ramaz community that we have organized and implemented the Natan program. MS Administration Separating challah is a tremendous mitzvah which can be done by anyone. More specifically, the moment immediately following the separation is an auspicious time to pray for one's own needs as well as the needs of others. On a monthly basis, women will gather to prepare challah and pray for the refuah of members of our community and their families, timed to correlate with Rosh Chodesh, a women’s holiday. Please contact natan@ramaz.org if you are interested in participating in a future date. Tizku L'Mitzvot, Becky Zwillinger Challah Segulah Chair Loaves of Love Loaves of Love was conceptualized by Natan@Ramaz LS/ECC co-chair Julie Feldman and is the equivalent of a home-made, edible "hug." The program's goal is to deliver weekly a home-made challah to a Ramaz family member (student, parent, faculty, or staff) going through a life cycle event. Ultimately, we'd like to be able to give to families "just because." To date, we have delivered hundreds of Loaves of Love. Our current goal is to deliver 3-6 challot every week. How you can become involved... Join our challah baking team! Julie, our primary "LoL" baker, bakes every week and provides 2-3 challot towards "Loaves of Love." We're looking for 2 or 3 more weekly challah bakers. We're committed to keeping this process simple and easy: Thursday check-in to find out if you'll be baking and if you'll have extra challot to contribute. You'll receive the name and address of a recipient. You can either deliver to their home, to their child in school, or to another Natan volunteer to distribute. We are committed to helping out with distribution; we don't want to burden our bakers! We will provide beautiful packaging and labels. We're looking forward to partnering with many of you on this new, exciting initiative. Please email natan@ramaz.org to participate. Tizku L'Mitzvot
