BRLSI is happy to announce the start of the summer season of
Renaisssance: Journeys of Discovery
covering the lives of key Renaissance figures such as Hobbes; Montaigne and Caxton. Launching the season will be a talk from John Gray, author of cult classic Straw Dogs and a leading contributor to both Radio 4’s A Point of View and The New Statesman. If you are interested in uncovering how the Renaissance transformed the worlds of art, literature, technology, science, politics, philosophy, cartography, theatre, printing and fashion, there is plenty more for you to enjoy!

Heroic stories showing the breadth and diversity of women’s service.
From codebreakers at Bletchley Park to Jamaican radio operators, Indian naval officers, Black women in the Land Army, pilots in the ATA, resistance fighters like Violette Szabo, and Singapore’s Elizabeth Choy who endured torture for helping POWs.
