Performance Testing
Measuring Growth. Guiding Success.
At The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School, we believe in using meaningful, data-driven assessments to inform instruction, support student growth, and prepare our learners for long-term academic success. Our approach to testing is thoughtful and student-centered, designed to track progress while reducing unnecessary stress.
MAP Growth Testing (Grades 1–8)
Students in grades 1 through 8 participate in MAP® Growth Assessments from NWEA, a nationally recognized performance testing program that measures academic growth in Reading, Language Usage, and Math.
Personalized: MAP adapts to each student’s skill level, offering a customized assessment experience.
Growth-Focused: Results help us identify each student’s learning level and track growth over time—not just proficiency.
Instructional Insight: Teachers use MAP data to tailor lessons, group students strategically, and provide targeted support or enrichment.
MAP testing is conducted three times a year—fall, winter, and spring—providing a clear picture of progress throughout the academic year.
PSAT & SAT (High School)
In high school, our students transition to college readiness assessments that align with national benchmarks and university expectations.
PSAT (Grades 9–11): Students begin taking the Preliminary SAT to gain early insight into their college readiness and qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
SAT (Grades 11–12): Our college counseling program supports students through SAT preparation, registration, and score analysis, ensuring they are well-positioned for college applications and scholarship opportunities.
By combining MAP Growth testing in the Lower and Middle School years with PSAT and SAT assessments in Upper School, we create a clear, cohesive picture of each student’s academic development from year to year—helping every learner reach their fullest potential.
