Application Requirements for International Undergraduate Applicants
First-Year applicants
are students who have never taken a college level course after graduating high school. If you have taken even one course after high school graduation you must apply as a transfer.
Please submit:

Proof of graduation

Financial Statement Form
- Submit the Financial Statement form and original documentation proving you have funds to pay for all educational and living expenses for the first year of study.
Passport
- A clear photocopy of the identification page of your passport
Demonstrated English proficiency
- TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, IB English, Pearson Test of English or the A-Level English Exam will be required. Eligible students will either receive direct admission or admission into our Pathway Program. English Proficiency Requirements
Direct Admission
Direct Admission means that the student meets all the requirements for the academic program and can demonstrate English proficiency by submitting
one
of the following:
SAT verbal score of 480 or,
TOEFL score of 79 or,
IELTS score of 6.5 or,
Duolingo score of 105 or,
C1 Advanced (Cambridge English Advanced) score of 176 or,
C2 Proficiency (Cambridge English Proficiency) score of 180 or,
Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 53 or,
Cambridge IGCSE O-Level, AS Level or A Level English Language score of C or,
International Baccalaureate (IB) higher Level English A: Literature or Higher Level English A: Language and Literature examination score of 4 or,
Having obtained 30 successful credit hours from a college or university within the United States.
Pathway Program Admission
Admission into
Fredonia's Pathway Program
means that the student meets all requirements for the academic program
except for
the English language requirement. The student will be admitted into the Pathway Program for the major of their choice and will be enrolled in English classes as well as credit bearing courses.  Upon successful completion of the English and credit bearing classes the student will fully matriculate into their degree program.  To meet the minimum requirements for the Pathway Program, please submit
one
of the following:
TOEFL score of 45
IELTS score of 4.5
Cost and Scholarship
Fredonia is proud to offer approximately
$8 million
in merit and need based scholarships to academically qualified new and returning students each year! International applicants will be reviewed for all merit based awards at the time of acceptance and will be notified shortly after. For more information please visit us at
Scholarship Information
We estimate the total costs for one year at Fredonia (to include room, board, tuition, fees, meal plan etc.) to be $31,895
Tuition costs are estimated at: $14,140
Living costs are estimated at: $17,755
*All first semester international students will be assessed a one-time international fee of $180
If you have dependents, you need to show the following additional funds:
Spouse: $4,000
Child: $2,000

Choosing Between F-1 and J-1 Status
All students are eligible for F-1 status, and it is the more common type. However, if you are an exchange student or if you have a scholarship, grant or other award that pays for at least half of your tuition cost, you can also qualify for J-1 status sponsored by the Fredonia.
