Pastoral Support | Coffee Regional Medical Center
Staying in the hospital due to an illness or injury is painful and unsettling for both patients and families. It is not uncommon to experience fear, anger, frustration or depression during this time. At Coffee Regional Medical Center, clergy volunteers from the community have been trained in healthcare ministry and are available to respond to the emotional and spiritual needs of both you and your family.
A Pastoral Support volunteer may visit you during your stay and offer care during this difficult time. If desired, they can contact your own religious provider for additional support. Services are provided when needed, without charge, regardless of your religious background.
How Pastoral Support can help
Pastoral support and care can help you and your family deal with the psychological and emotional problems associated with a hospital stay. These may include:
Fear, anxiety, change or loss
Questions about life and death
Loss of purpose or meaning
Questions or concerns about your relationship with God
Ethical issue or concern
In some cases, you may seek spiritual support to celebrate good news or rejoice and give thanks. No matter what your needs, pastoral support helps provide comfort and strength through prayer, scripture or religious sacraments.

Pastoral Support services are located on the second floor of the hospital, near the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Call the central switchboard at 912.384.1900 and ask an operator for assistance.
SPECIAL NOTICE:
ICU has QUIET TIME from 2p – 4p each day. During this time, no visitation is allowed, and phone calls will not be transferred.
In situations where visitors are restricted, an exception may be made for End-of-Life or Special Life circumstances. Please contact the Patient Care Director.
Visitation may be limited at the discretion of the Physician, Nurse or PCD under special circumstances due to issues such as the patient’s need for rest, security, safety or the patient’s comfort and privacy.
