About Sustainable Cambridge
Sustainable Cambridge is a whole-of-city effort to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy and manage our adaptation to a climate-altered environment. It involves every city department including:
Cambridge Arts
funds, promotes, and presents high-quality, community-based arts programming for the benefit of artists, residents, and visitors
Community Development
leads Cambridge’s renewable energy and flood resilience zoning, and develops land use policies and regulations that promote the City’s climate and sustainability objectives.
Housing
coordinates efforts to meet the housing needs of low, moderate, and middle-income residents through initiatives that create and preserve affordable housing.
Human Services
supports residents of all ages, especially those most at risk of harm from extreme weather.
Public Health
provides innovative services that safeguard and enhance the health of all who live, work, and study in Cambridge.
Public Schools
educates, inspires, empowers, and supports every student on their personal journey to achieve their highest potential.
Public Works
leads Cambridge’s flood resilience, urban forest, stormwater, community garden, zero waste, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Sustainability
works across city departments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ensure a just energy transition, build climate resilience, and protect community and environmental health.
Transportation
leads Cambridge’s transition to fossil fuel-free modes of transportation, including walking, biking, public transit, and electric vehicles.
Water
ensures Cambridge has a safe, uninterrupted supply of high quality water.
