Grade 12 students made an impressive mark at the 8th International Conference on Multidisciplinary and Current Educational Research (ICMCER), clinching consecutive awards in a hybrid international forum held from March 13 to 14, 2026 at the Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.
The event featured a diverse array of presentations, with 21 papers delivered in person on Day 1 and 35 papers presented online on Day 2. Remarkably, DLSZ stood out as the only Senior High School (SHS) participant among an audience primarily composed of seasoned professionals, including counselors, doctors, PhD holders, and professors.
On the first day, the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) team was awarded Best Paper Presentation (Face-to-Face) for their insightful study titled “Teachers’ Perceptions of Generative AI in Supporting Instruction at Alabang Elementary School.” Dominic Cañarejo  (DLSZ 2026) led the presentation, with contributions from team members Reynaldo Antig III (DLSZ 2026) and Pau Fondevilla (DLSZ 2026), under the mentorship of Mr. Patrick Angeles.
The following day, DLSZ continued its success with the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) team winning Best Paper Presentation (Online) for their research titled “Gamified Learning through Knowt: Enhancing Reading Comprehension and Motivation among Grade 10 Students at DLSZ.” This presentation was delivered by Emjay Semaña Mercado (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2026) and Kimberly Nicole Odelmo (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2026), with support from their group members, namely, Timothy Ethan Gabagat (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2026), Michael Ynoc Perez (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2026), and Darius Ceasar Austria (DLSZ BRafeNHS 2026). Under the guidance from research adviser, Mr. Gerald Gamboa, they demonstrated how gamification, through points, progress tracking, and interactive quizzes, can effectively enhance motivation and reading comprehension in Grade 10 students.
These achievements, facilitated by the Research, Service Learning, and Work Immersion (RSLWI) Unit, led by Ms. Jeenadine M. Guavis and overseen by Associate Principal for Learning Standards, Ms. Leah Marie Tumlos-Castillo, underscore DLSZ’s commitment to excellence in academic research. They highlight the school’s ability to thrive in both in-person and virtual settings while translating classroom inquiry into internationally recognized scholarship.
