Diversity at APU
Do Good, Act Justly, Walk Humbly
–Micah 6:8
“As an evangelical Christian community of disciples and scholars, Azusa Pacific University
approaches diversity from a biblical perspective, affirming that diversity is an expression
of God’s image, love, and boundless creativity.”
-From APU’s Diversity Statement
.
APU’s Student Belonging team is committed to leading strategic initiatives aimed at
cultivating a cross-cultural community, a welcoming climate, and an educational environment
that cultivates Christ-centered engagement, promotes student and employee thriving,
and enables APU to become a premier Christian university engaging, educating, and
equipping diverse learners and leaders as image bearers of God.
After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count,
from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before
the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the
throne, and to the Lamb.’
Revelation 7:9-10 (NIV)
Scripture reveals the Kingdom of God as multinational, multigenerational, multiethnic,
and multilingual. As a Christ-centered community, APU aspires to elevate diversity
as a Kingdom distinctive. The Student Belonging team is committed to partnering with
administrative, academic, co-curricular, and student leaders to strategically promote
and advance initiatives that translate to a sense of belonging, thriving student outcomes,
holistic success, and fulfillment of the university mission.
