Class of 2024 Induction
The
GAC Athletic Hall of Fame
was created to recognize the outstanding athletic accomplishments of GAC alumni.  The first GAC Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony occurred in January of 1999.  Since that time, there have been three additional inductions.  These induction ceremonies occurred in 2004, 2009, and 2014.  Currently, there are forty-two members of the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame. Their names are noted on the glass walls of the Bricked Gallery of the Jesse and Marilyn Long Forum.  Moving forward the open nomination process will close on January 31
st
of each year.  A selection committee will meet, review the nominations, and make final selections.  New inductees will be announced during the Spring of 2024 and honored at the first home football game the following fall.
Criteria for nomination and selection
·      Notable athletic accomplishments while in high school at GAC including:  school records, county recognition, region recognition, state recognition, and national recognition.
·      Notable scholarship offers
·      Honorable character and leadership traits
·      Significant contributions to the sport
·      Eligibility begins 10 years after graduation from GAC

The
Spartan Circle of Honor
was established to recognize unique athletic accomplishments by GAC alumni on a national/international level.  To date, six individuals have received this honor.  Their accomplishments are noted on the Spartan Circle of Honor display located in the Bricked Gallery of the Jesse and Marilyn Long Forum.
Criteria for Selection
·      The athlete must have brought considerable recognition to GAC in the sport in which he/she will be recognized.
·      The athlete must have received state or national honors and recognition in the sport in which he/she will be recognized.
·      The athlete must have received a scholarship offer from a Division I school in the sport in which he/she will be recognized.
·      The 10-year waiting period can be waived for the Circle of Honor in special situations.
·      Selection into the Circle of Honor includes automatic inclusion into the Spartan Hall of Fame.
Nomination, Selection, and Induction
Nominations to the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame will also be considered for the Spartan Circle of Honor.  The GAC Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee will make the determination of inclusion into the Spartan Circle of Honor based on those nominations.  Induction into the Spartan Circle of Honor will be made in a special ceremony apart from the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame induction.

Nominations
Nominations for the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame are considered “open” nominations. Anyone can participate in this part of the process. Nominations can be made online. The
nomination form
must be received yearly by January 31
st
for consideration in that year.

Selection Process and Induction Ceremony
A selection committee will review all nominations and make selections by
March 15
th
each year. Individuals will be notified of their selection each spring in preparation for an induction ceremony to be held each year at the first home varsity football game.

Required
The GAC Athletic Department is excited to announce the induction of eight GAC Alumni into the GAC Athletic Hall of Fame. The 2024 class will be inducted during halftime of the Varsity Football game on September 20, 2024.
