Our Sports Programme at the International School Hamburg offers a wide range of sports activities for girls and boys. Students can take part in the Northwest European Council of International Schools (NECIS) Sports Programme or our Intramural Sports Programme.

Intramural Sports
The International School of Hamburg is a leading member of the Northwest European Council of International Schools (N.E.C.I.S.) Sports Council, a grouping of eleven international schools that provides opportunities for our students to meet in specified tournament activities on a competitive basis with each school working toward a common aim to achieve a well-balanced programme that promotes healthy competition, sportsmanship and full participation.
Representing your school gives you bigger pride and makes all ISH teams feel more like a family with the common goal of trying to win for the school.
Grade 12 student
Our ISH 'Falcons' teams train twice a week and during the soccer/volleyball/basketball seasons play weekend games as well as the main NECIS Tournament.
Necis is special because you get to meet and connect with people from all around the world coming for different schools with different backgrounds through the shared interest of sport.
Grade 10 student
Make sure you visit the NECIS website at
www.necis.eu
to discover what an amazing experience a NECIS tournament offers our students.
The primary goal of the Intramural Sports Program is to provide ISH students opportunities to develop skills in sports and nurture a supportive social environment. The program encourages students to develop a healthy mind, body and attitude while fostering cultural understanding, fairness and respect for others.
Intramural sports offered at ISH include:
Football
Volleyball
Basketball
Athletics Club
Badminton
Gymnastics
Mini-Tennis
Canoeing
Climbing Club
Fitness Club
Floor Hockey
A wide range of internal sports for those students in grades P3 to grade 12 who wish to participate in a weekly sports activity over a set number of weeks. The intramural sports programme is designed for our younger students (grades P3 to grade 4) and for those older students (grades 5 to 12) who do not wish to commit to a NECIS team (or in addition to) but instead prefer to play recreational sports in a non-competitive environment.
The intramural sports programme is designed for our younger students (students in grades P1 to 4) who are too young to join the NECIS Sports programme and for those older students (grades 5 to 12) who do not wish to commit to a NECIS team (or in addition to) but instead prefer to play recreational sports in a non-competitive environment.
