Welcome to Your UW Living Learning Community!
The University of Wyoming's Faculty-Led Interest Groups (FIGs) are designed to help
first-year students build community and ease their transition to college life. FIGs
connect students through shared interests and group activities, while also promoting
academic success. Since many students in a FIG are enrolled in common courses, it’s
like having a built-in study group! These living learning communities provide support,
engagement and a strong foundation for students to thrive both academically and socially
during their first year at UW.

Benefits of Joining a FIG
Joining a FIG is like getting a jump start on your college social circle. You get
a chance to meet students with similar interests and build connections with people
who will likely be your classmates for years to come.
Students in FIGs get:
Automatic enrollment into those hard to get first-year classes.
Easy access to peer study-groups, leading to improved academic performance.
Increased chances for completing a degree program.
Eased anxiety when transitioning to UW.
These living learning communities are a way to set yourself up for success and help
build some lifelong connections. It’s basically a dorm floor with benefits and who
doesn’t love that?
Hear From Your Peers
“I 100% recommend it. I have heard so many stories from other students, not in a FIG,
about how they feel like they don't know their neighbors and aren’t connected as a
floor. I feel like our floor is really great and I know most everyone. Another plus?
If you need help with your homework it is so nice to have basically a whole floor
of people who can help you. So nice!!”
