Welcome to Borrow By Mail.
This free service is a great complement to the Library's
Parking Lot Pick-Up
,
pick-up lockers
and
Homebound Services
. It also allows customers to access almost all of the Library's circulating collections while remaining safely at home.
How does Borrow By Mail work?
Log into your
BALibrary account
through our website.
Search the
online catalog
. When you find a book or movie you'd like to borrow, click "Place Request."
When asked to choose a Pick-Up Location, click the "Send to me via Borrow By Mail" checkbox instead.
Watch your mailbox for your delivery!
You will receive an email, including tracking information
, when your item has shipped.
When you've finished enjoying your item, simply return it to any of our drop boxes - there are currently te
n community drop boxes
available for returns.
More important details:
This free service is available to our District resident cardholders, non-residents with a Barrington Area Library District card, and business/government cardholders.
Up to five items per day may be mailed to a specific cardholder. Additional requested items will be held until the next mailing day.
Items may take up to three days to arrive once they have shipped. An extra three days will be added to your checkout time.
Items can only be mailed to addresses within the Barrington Area Library district and surrounding communities.
If you are not able to return the items to a drop box, please inquire about our
Homebound Services
.
A few item types cannot be delivered via Borrow By Mail, due to size restrictions: backpacks, oversized books, and any type of equipment, including laptops and tablets.
