Our People
Our People
We’re a team of over 5,000 volunteers and 2,500 employees with a huge range of skills, experience and expertise. Their passion and enthusiasm makes English Heritage a special place to work or volunteer.
Our Staff
We’re cooks and conservation experts, garden apprentices and graphic designers, volunteer managers and visitor assistants.
Our sites and offices are all across England, so there's lots of opportunities to get involved. If you want to be part of our team, check out our latest roles and sign up for job alerts.
Careers with Us
Our Volunteers
Every day, hundreds of people up and down the country share their time to help preserve the historic places in our care. We couldn't do what we do without them.
Volunteering is a great way to support English Heritage. From helping to plant bulbs in our gardens to running craft workshops and answering questions from curious visitors, there are lots of roles available.
Volunteer with us
Our trustees
As a charity, we’re governed by our board of trustees, who are also volunteers. Tony Hales CBE is chair of the board.
The trustees delegate the day-to-day running of the charity to the senior management team, which is led by our interim chief executive, Geoff Parkin.
Meet our Trustees
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
Our vision is that, by 2040, English Heritage will have helped millions of people to come closer together through their shared enjoyment and love for England’s heritage. We can only do that by becoming a truly equitable, diverse and inclusive organisation. Our refreshed EDI Strategy, ‘Inclusion in Action’ sets out what we aim to do and how we plan to get there.
