Here are the steps to get you started. College credit earned after the summer following high school graduation cannot be used for admission. You must earn grades of C or better for each of the courses in the comprehensive pattern of college preparatory subject requirements (known as the A-G Requirements ). The CSU will accept grades of "Credit" or "Pass" to satisfy "A-G" requirements completed during winter, spring or summer 2020 terms and during winter, spring, or summer 2021 terms. Requirements (A-G Courses) Years required A. History/Social Science: 1 year of U.S. history or 1 semester U.S. history and 1 semester civics or American government 1 year social science or history 2 years B. English College preparatory English composition and literature 4 years C. Mathematics College preparatory — three 1-year courses in algebra, geometry, and intermediate algebra or algebra II or a 3-year-long sequence such as Math 1, 2, 3 or integrated math 1, 2, 3 3 years (4 recommended) D. Laboratory Science 1 year biological science w/lab (i.e., biology, anatomy, physiology) 1 year physical science w/lab (i.e., chemistry, physics) 2 years E. Language Other Than English 2 years in the same language (may be satisfied by demonstrating equivalent competence in another language) 2 years F. Visual & Performing Arts 1 year in the same discipline: Art, dance, theater/drama, music 1 year G. California residents and graduates of California high schools must meet a minimum GPA of 2.5 in A-G coursework taken in grades 10, 11, and 12. Non-California residents and graduates of non-California high schools must meet a minimum GPA of 3.0 or greater in college preparatory coursework taken in grades 10, 11, and 12. Admission Requirements & Guidance Ready to fuel your future? Check that your coursework and exams meet CSU admission requirements before you apply. The CSU will consider grades of "credit" or "pass" to satisfy "A-G" requirements completed during winter, spring, summer or fall 2020 terms and during winter, spring or summer 2021 terms. All other coursework must be graded and a grade of C- or better must be earned for the course to satisfy “A-G” requirements. Grades of credit/pass or no credit/no pass will not be included in the calculation of high school GPA. The CSU strongly recommends that ALL students enroll in a yearlong senior-year English course and a mathematics/quantitative reasoning course as student-specific Early Assessment Program (EAP) guidance may not be available at the time of senior year course registration. Recommended courses could include Expository Reading and Writing (ERWC), Math Reasoning with Connections (MRWC), weighted honors and International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP) or other advanced courses. ACT/SAT exams are not required and will not be used to determine admission eligibility The CSU will continue to honor Advanced Placement exams on which scores of 3, 4, or 5 are earned, regardless of the delivery mode of the exam. Supplemental Criteria If space is still available after admitting all eligible applicants, Stan State will review students in the categories below: In-state applicants : 2.0 – 2.49 GPA (completed all A – G) Out-of-state applicants : 2.47 - 2.99 GPA (completed all A – G) Admission for these students is based on a Multi-Factor Admission Score and the University’s enrollment capacity. As a pre-nursing student, you’ll complete the required prerequisite courses and then submit a supplemental application to the nursing program once those courses are finished. Admission to the pre-nursing major is based on the following factors: Evaluation Factors High school GPA of 3.5 or higher in grades 10, 11, and 12. High school English GPA of 3.3 or higher Weighted math GPA 3.5 or higher and completed an approved year-long math course beyond Algebra 2 (C- or better) High school Biology and Chemistry with grade of B (3.0 GPA) or better Steps to Your First Semester These steps guide you through a smooth transition to Stan State and help you get ready for your first day as a Warrior. At NSO you will meet our exceptional faculty and staff who will assist you with academic advising and course registration. To verify your final eligibility, you need to submit final official transcripts listing all final grades and the date of high school graduation.
