Intellectual challenge is at the heart of a Beacon education. We take this very seriously, but we are also very practical about it. Our 10 bachelor’s degree programs are intended to prepare our students to find worthy work in today’s global marketplace.  Additionally, we encourage students to explore their diverse interests through one or more of our 17 minors.

Current Exhibit
2.0 Kinds of Funny
“2.0 Kinds of Funny” showcases humorous artworks, each contained to a one-cubic-foot box. Originally curated for the University of Cincinnati’s Reed Gallery in January 2025, the exhibit began travelling in April. It features up to 40 artists who responded to a 12-by-12-by-12-inch format.
Past Exhibits
2023 Annual Juried Student Exhibition
The 2023 Annual Juried Student Exhibition opened to the public on March 30 and featured paintings, drawings, and sculptures from 44 students from all classifications and across majors who have taken art courses.
“This year’s Annual Student Exhibition shows a dedication to craftsmanship and concept,” said Russell Bellamy, professor of art and department chair at Beacon. “The variety of media and processes indicates a high level of independent research and experimentation. We are excited about the consistent ability to incorporate narrative, philosophical ideas, and personal content. Everyone involved should be extremely proud of their accomplishments.”
This year’s exhibition was judged by Michael Knapp, a Tampa-based painter, known for the use of a colorful palette in works that pulse with fun.
Awardees included:
Honorable Mentions
Marcus Giglio — “Spring in 2-point Perspective”
Pierre Bernard — “Scorched”
Chiara Ferrante — Untitled (Wooden Wheel)
Anna Roth — “Rebirth”
Maxine Collazo — “Don’t Mind the Track”
Best 2-D
Chiara Ferrante — “Untitled (Planes and Tomato)”
Best 3-D
Jude Heinen — “Untitled (Hand)”
Best of Show
Camille McKoy — “Fallen”
Pop Goes the Easel
Michael Knapp wants his art to say something. “Good art should tell a story,” Knapp said. “There should be something that you get out of it rather than just looking at it and saying, ‘It’s pretty.’” Even if Knapp wants you to think a little bit deeper, his art feels fun with bright, playful colors and a feeling of chaos.
Knapp’s frustrations with authority figures and society’s overreliance on technology emerge as a few of the themes in his new exhibit at Beacon College. Knapp’s “Pop Goes the Easel” show was on display at the Kristin Michelle Mason Art Gallery through March 10, 2023.
