Faces of RIT
Defining Her Path
Lindsey Hecker
Film and Animation
Hecker applied her hands-on academic learning through a real-world co-op, gaining production experience that directly supports her career goals. The combination of practical coursework and industry exposure transformed her knowledge into expertise—turning her from a thinker into a doer.
Driving dynamic visual storytelling
Gabriel “Gabo” Pointe-Fleary
Assistant Director
Pointe-Fleary is the creative force behind the Department of Access Services at RIT. His visual storytelling and digital content development ensures the department’s messages reach audiences in engaging ways.
Fueling Creativity
Ernest Roszkowski
Principal Lecturer
Roszkowski teaches graphic design, motion graphics, and web design in NTID’s Visual Communications Studies Department. For him, interacting with his students and watching them grow and be successful, creative individuals is the part of the job he loves most.
Expanding ASL
Tina Goudreau Collison
Professor of Chemistry
A complicated vocabulary and a lack of dedicated signs in American Sign Language makes Organic Chemistry a challenge for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Collison worked with interpreters to develop new ASL signs, leading to profound learning improvements for her students.
Finding a Community
Emily Ohl
Industrial Design
Ohl found the community, access, and hands‑on opportunities she needed at RIT. As an industrial design major, she has honed her skills to create purposeful solutions and is driven to design for a better world.
Where You Belong
Semra Kayitmaz
Biomedical Sciences
Kayitmaz discovered more than just a college at RIT—she found a place where she truly belongs. At RIT, she embraces the richness of both deaf and hearing communities and shares her passion for the college by serving as an NTID student ambassador. She broadened her world through studying abroad and gained real-world insight by shadowing doctors. Through each experience, Kayitmaz didn’t just build a future—she found her home.
