Join us in building a new HOME Strategic Plan & Prospectus Dear Patrons and Friends of the Texas Air and Space Museum, Thank you for taking the time and expressing interest in allowing us to share some of our progress and plans for our museum efforts. We have included a brief regional museum history over the last 29 years, particularly our meteoric growth and projects in the past nine,  including: * excellent stewardship of the almost 8 million in donations and on loan artifacts * becoming land owners, 20 acres of land with over 5 acres under roof * development of a strong, aviation experienced, board and volunteers with a sustainable plan in place to reach our goals We've made a significant difference here in Amarillo and the Golden Spread region. As our history and plan show, we will continue to make even a greater positive impact in education and tourism regionally, nationally, and even internationally now with visitors from all 50 states and 106 countries. Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle have been home to five Astronauts, two of which have walked on the moon. We want to inspire our youth to follow in their footsteps and the rich aviation history here. We are working to expand joint educational programs with Amarillo College and Region 16 Independent School District, and the museum can "feed the pipeline" for both AC and Bell Helicopter as well as and the aviation and aerospace industry as we expand our regional primary and secondary education programs. We have added the historic FAA DC3, N34, listed as one of three moveable items on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as a YAK 11 Unlimited Racer. Additional planes, acquisitions, and opportunities await. We need help while we work at our present location to move to our new home here on the airport where we can further implement our plans for growth and sustainability. We are making a difference and would like to ask your direction and ideas, even your participation, to take the Museum and our educational programs further. The budget section of the plan has some priorities: initially the refurbishing and occupancy of a display building, educational facilities  and concurrently revenue producing buildings on our new property. The new property is well placed and very high profile, seen by 740,000 annual air travelers and 14,600,000 passing vehicles on I-40. Those who would like to make a memorial or major sponsorship could place their logo on TASM's grain elevator, marking the gateway to our communities, region, and commerce at the entrance of the Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Beginning February 15, 2014, N34--one of more than 10,000 Douglas DC-3/C-47 variants built around the world--is now available for the world to see in Amarillo, Texas.
