Royal Perth Hospital marks major milestone with new building plans

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is thrilled by the news the health facility is set to undergo a major revamp - bringing a range of benefits to patients and staff.
A brand-new six-storey building will be constructed on site - a transformative project that represents a significant investment in the hospital’s ongoing development and East’s renowned commitment to amazing patient care.
This project follows a comprehensive review of the original plans to redevelop the RPH Emergency Department (ED), including detailed consideration of location, delivery timeframe, and project scope.
The new building will be located on the northern end of the current RPH site, with two floors dedicated to the ED and seamlessly integrating with existing services such as the Intensive Care Unit.
RPH staff are extremely excited about this project - recognising the profound impact it will have on enhancing emergency care capacity, improving patient flow, and supporting staff to continue delivering exceptional healthcare to the community.
Premier Roger Cook said of the new plans: “The new emergency department at Royal Perth Hospital is part of my government’s historic investment in health infrastructure - the largest in the State’s history.
“The exciting transformation of Royal Perth Hospital will be a game changer - boosting services while minimising disruptions for patients and staff.
“I’ve always said, health is a priority of my government, and this is a demonstration of that commitment."
Construction of the new emergency department is expected to start in 2026.
