The
Soka Leadership Summit
brought together student leaders from across campus to harness their collective power to drive positive change through their roles this year.
On September 18, 2021, World Clean-up day, SUA students including the men’s soccer team joined members from the community to participate in the
Aliso Viejo Creek and Trails Clean-up
. In total, 38 Soka student volunteers joined together with the greater community to clean up litter and waste from Aliso Viejo’s trails and creeks.
For our annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Program, we partnered with the Tiyya Foundation. Tiyya creates communities of support and organizes access to economic opportunities and resources for immigrants, refugees, and displaced indigenous communities. Throughout the week, students learned about the refugee crisis, the challenges of resettlement after displacement, and justice-based volunteering centering on the empowerment of the community.
Students in Action
Ultimately, there’s a difference between doing good and actually being ‘Good’; one must approach ASB with the intention of understanding both.
