A Step-by-Step Guide
There are five key stages to the admissions process. We guide you through the steps at the right pace for your family. You can enter your child for immediate entry or for future years. We tend to complete the paperwork in the year preceding admission.

. You can get a feel for us, meet teachers and pupils, explore the grounds and facilities, and talk to us about your aspirations for your child.
You will be guided around the School by our wonderful teachers or pupils, who will show you the facilities at RGS The Grange, including our Classrooms, Grounds, and dedicated Sports and Forest School areas. You will be able to gain an insight into what life is like at RGS The Grange, and you will also be able to meet with our Senior Leadership Team, who can answer any questions you may have.
Open Morning Dates
Complete the
online registration form
and submit it with the fee of £60 to register your interest.
Completing this form registers your interest in your child enrolling in the School but is not a commitment to join. Once registered (via completion of the form) you will stay informed about essential details regarding the admissions process at our school. Stay up-to-date with information about taster days, important dates and school news.

We arrange a Taster and Assessment Day for your child to experience the School’s normal daily routines.
During the taster day, your child will be assigned a buddy, and invited to join their year group for the day. They will experience a typical day at school, showcasing our engaging activities, diverse curriculum, Co-curricular offerings, and the overall atmosphere of our school community.
Your child will be assessed either during this day or on an alternative day. Find out more about our assessment process further down this page.

References
We apply for a reference from your child’s school.
This helps us gain valuable insights into their academic progress, character, and suitability for our School community. We treat this information confidentially and use it to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils. If you prefer us to not contact your current school until the application process is complete, then please just let us know.
Step Five:
Offer
Upon successful completion of our assessment process and satisfactory references, the Headmaster will review, and if suitable, will be pleased to extend a place to your child at RGS The Grange.
To secure this place, you will be asked to complete an acceptance form, and submit a deposit of £120, along with a copy of your child’s birth certificate. At this point your child’s place at the School is confirmed.
Depending on the point of entry, you will be invited to transition and induction events, where your child will meet their teacher and new classmates, and leave excited for their new School!

How do we assess?
Like you, we want your child to thrive with us, personally and academically. Our assessment process is designed to check we are the right place for your child. It varies according to the Year group your child is hoping to join.
Nursery
Your child can start the term after their second birthday. We will arrange familiarisation sessions to ensure your child is comfortable with the environment.
Reception, Year One and Year Two
Your child will be assessed informally by the class teacher during the taster day.
Years Three to Six
Your child will be assessed formally, which will involve Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. These results, alongside data from your child’s current school, will inform our decision.
