Student Loans (5.5% to 7.0% Interest Plans)
The Student Loan Program at Galen is designed to help pay for educational expenses, so students can make their dream of higher education a reality. GU’s loan program is intended to pay for tuition only and is based on the loan values of each student’s varying realities:
Student Loans are calculated at the Discounted tuition rate of $320 BZ per credit hour for undergraduate students and $600 per credit hour for Graduate students. (Please note that you are still enjoying the 20% Global Pandemic discount)
Student loans are available to all students who wish to complete their studies providing that you meet all requirements
Students enrolling with part scholarships
Requirements:
Must be a Belizean
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 and above.
Students must request an academic audit from the records office or submit their updated academic pathway, along with the completed application form.
Submit total credit hours you want to be financed.
Complete a student loan application form
Give 2 Personal references, 1 of which can be a family reference with current contact numbers, address, and place of employment
Submit color copy of a valid ID – Social Security or Passport
Show proof of Address with any current utility bill (water, electricity, phone, cable, etc.). If the utility bill is not in your name, kindly have the person’s whose name appears on the utility bill (parent, legal guardian, or landlord), sign the utility bill attesting to the fact that you reside at that address and provide us with a copy of their valid ID (Social Security or Passport).
All loans will require 2 guarantors if student is attending full time and is unemployed. (One of which will be responsible to make your monthly loan payments)
Students who are employed, a salary deduction letter from their current place of employment or a bank standing order for the monthly loan amount.
Guarantors must be gainfully employed. (at least one year)
Guarantors must provide current employment letter detailing salary, length of employment and position.
Guarantor must also be of Belizean nationality and must provide a color copy of a valid ID.(Social Security or Passport)
Guarantors must give 2 personal references, 1of which can be a family member. They must provide a current contact numbers, address and complete the section of the Loan Application that pertains to them.
