BA Music - (Accra Only)
OVERVIEW
Summary
The need to establish a music programme in Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), Ghana, was informed by current needs of the Ghanaian community, developmental trends, activities and efforts in the Ghanaian music institutions and entertainment industry. The brainchild of the music programme is the founder and Chancellor of the WIUC – The Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn. The music programme at WIUC was formally communicated about Ten (10) months ago to a round table conference made up of the University’s top administration and some of the nation’s top music educationists and practitioners who led the way and are currently happily teaching in our Department of Music and Multimedia studies under the school of communications.
On the heart of the chancellor – with regards to our music programme – was the vision to rediscover the gift of music to humanity as a whole and the Ghanaian in particular. In addition,to consider and assess current needs for music; and to harness and equip students to better serve musical needs of humanity through creativity, performance and research work. Furthermore, to enhance the common educational structure of music in the country. In view of that, the WIUC was to consider and as such become the hub for serious undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies in the areas of Music Technology (Audio-Visual Sound Engineering, Music Underscore for Film Music and the study of Church Music in its entirety).
Other programmes offered within our music programmes are: music education for basic school music teachers, training of special artistes (those who turn up to be stars), Jazz studies, music and events planning, and the study or proficiency of all concert and indigenous musical instruments. The University is pleased to announce the establishment of an ultra-modern sound/music recording studio. Our studio is situated within a “cool” environment in the suburb of Haatso less than a mile from our main campus.
If you know anyone who shows signs of musical gifts and desires to make music a life-long work, please give them a gift of their lifetime by introducing them to the Wisconsin International University’s Music Programme Again, the goal of our Music programme is:
To become a talent-developing school of music
To link the academy, practice and business of music
To train for, and to encourage entrepreneurship in the Music industry
ELIGIBILITY
The programme is open to anyone that can read and write.
