Low interest loan scheme
Assisting non-government schools with capital development projects including land acquisition, new building construction and upgrading of established facilities.
Loans are also available to the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA).
The Department of Education administers the Low Interest Loan Scheme (LILS) on behalf of the Minister for Education and Training.

Applications
When and where to lodge applications
University of Notre Dame Australia
You apply for the LILS in the year before the financial year in which funds are required. Applications are considered and approved on an annual basis.
To submit an application for an independent non-government school, use the
LILS loan application form
.
Non-government school principals are notified when an updated LILS application form is available.
The 2026 application form for Catholic schools is available from Catholic Education Western Australia.
Lodgement differs dependent on the type of school.
Catholic schools should lodge applications with
Catholic Education Western Australia
by 31 December of the year prior to the financial year in which loan funds are required.
Lodge applications at the office of the appropriate system for:
Anglican Schools Commission schools
Swan Christian Education Association schools
Seventh Day Adventist Conference schools.
Check the lodgement dates with your own system office.
For independent schools, you must lodge applications with the Department of Education by the end of September of the year prior to the financial year in which the loan funds will be required.
For the LILS, a financial year is defined as the 12-month period ending on 30 June in a given year.
The State Government provides funds through LILS to the University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) to assist the university to undertake a wide variety of capital development projects.
