VIEW NEIL ARMSTRONG On July 20, 1969, the world watched in awe as Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped out of the lunar module and became the first human to walk on the Moon. His famous words, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," marked a defining moment in history and symbolized the limitless potential of human exploration. Today, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio, celebrates this extraordinary achievement and preserves the legacy of Neil Armstrong and America’s pioneering role in space exploration. Located in Armstrong’s hometown, the museum offers visitors an inspiring journey through the history of flight, space travel, and innovation. CALENDAR VIEW FULL CALENDAR WHAT'S HAPPENING FEATURED EXHIBITS GEMINI VIII SPACECRAFT The museum is home to the Gemini VIII spacecraft, flown by Neil Armstrong & David Scott on Mar 16, 1966 to accomplish the first docking of two crafts in space. Button APOLLO 11 MOON ROCK While on their historic Apollo 11 mission in July 1969, Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin collected lunar samples to bring back to Earth, including the Moon rock our museum has on display.
