Students and staff are members of one of the five houses; Marian (Blue), Kane (Red), Frayne (Green), O'Hea (Gold), and Thecla (Purple). Each house celebrates its sporting, artistic, debating and social service talents of its members.
The house system creates smaller communities within the school and gives students a unique sense of "belonging" and identity. House events regularly bring together students and staff and promote the development of senior and younger student relationships in the House. It also provides opportunities to develop leadership qualities and skills in students across all levels.
Houses encourage participation in sporting, cultural, environmental and other co-curricular activities and promote student leadership. Each house includes students from all year levels with approximately one hundred and fifty students in each. Students become members of a house upon commencement at the College and every effort is made to maintain family traditions within Houses.
There is keen but good-natured rivalry between the five Houses as they compete for the House trophy. Points accumulate from the various sporting and cultural competitions that are held throughout the year. These include: Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics Carnivals, Drama and Public Speaking Competitions and fund raising for social justice issues.
There is a strong emphasis on increasing our environmental awareness and actions within our school and local community to build best practice in sustainable environmental behaviours.
