[Opening title] RMIT Presents
Visual: Joshua sits in a boat and interacts with local Vietnamese people selling fruit on the water.
Joshua Barker (JB): I think you need to go out of your comfort zone when you wanna try something new. A lot of the time, that means location you to a lot of things and situations that you wouldn't if you're just living at home.
[Screen title] Joshua Barker: Exchange Student at RMIT Vietnam
JB:My name's Joshua, and I'm from Melbourne. I'm currently on exchange at RMIT Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City.
Visual: Street scenes of street markets, food being prepared and sold, motorbikes and the city scape. Joshua walks towards the RMIT Ho Chi Minh campus, a large building with the RMIT logo.
JB: In the Applied Entrepreneurship Program at RMIT, I'm currently working on a project with a group where we're taking the idea of 3D printing as a service, and turning that into a business.
Visual: Joshua enters the RMIT building, sits with fellow students to work with a 3D printer and software. The students discuss the image of a hand on the screen and watch the 3D printer at work.
JB: I think the hands-on approach that RMIT takes really takes the education where we have a viable business plan, we have something that if you were to take it after the semester and put it into the marketplace, it should work. That's the idea.
Visual: Joshua walks through the streets where clothing and groceries are for sale in street stalls, he buys a bahn mi roll and eats it.
JB: You put yourself in a place you probably wouldn't necessarily eat normally, you're gonna get some of the most authentic and crazy flavours. The food in Vietnam is amazing. Putting it pretty bluntly, I think you haven't lived unless you've eaten Vietnamese food.
Visual: Joshua plays on the beach with friends, kicking a ball with local children.
JB: I mean I love the exchange lifestyle and the, everything that that brings. Getting a deeper level of connection with the culture, with the way of living, for a decent amount of time, but you're still not putting studies on hold.
Visual: Joshua visits a temple and shares a street food meal with friends in an outdoor market with hanging lanterns.
JB: It's a unique environment where you can meet people from all over the world while being in one place.  The people you meet here instantly become your family. That kind of friendship - I've never experienced anywhere else.
I think travel brings understanding. You're not necessarily just seeing things from your own perspective. The scenery's different, the people are different, and you just, you learn things. You have to grow to match the situation, so... Yeah, I think from when I first arrived and from I leave, that's gonna be  a very different person.
Visual: Joshua buys a lantern, boards a small boat and sets the lantern afloat on the water.
