Jennifer Courtwright PhD Defense - Assessing ecological integrity of streams across the western U.S.
Conference/Seminar
Maintaining and restoring the ecological integrity of aquatic ecosystems is both legally mandated by the Clean Water Act and a management goal of diverse natural resource management agencies. Historically, most ecological assessments of aquatic ecosystems have focused on determining whether individual water bodies are supporting desired aquatic life conditions. However, agencies also have to report to Congress on overall status and trends in ecological condition across all streams within their jurisdiction. Ideally, assessments of ecological integrity would be both precise enough to inform site-specific management decisions and also be readily scaled up to accurately characterize watershed-, regional-, and national-scale conditions. My dissertation research improves the range of naturally occurring environmental settings to which indices of biological, chemical, and physical condition apply and scales up reach-level assessments of ecological integrity to regional and national scales in the western US.

FOREVER PLAID
Written and Originally Directed & Choreographed by Stuart Ross
“Once upon a time, there were four guys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie) who discovered that they shared a love for music... Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company, they became "Forever Plaid". On the way to their first big gig, the "Plaids" are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at this moment when their careers and lives end that the story of Forever Plaid begins.”

Community Art Day
Arts/Entertainment
Join us for a Community Art Day inspired by legendary photographer Ansel Adams and his striking black-and-white image The Grand Tetons and the Snake River, Wyoming. Adams was known for capturing the grandeur of the American West using only light, shadow, and masterful composition. His photographs invite us to see nature as both powerful and sacred.

In this hands-on activity, you’ll create your own black-and-white landscape using black paper and white drawing tools. Focus on shapes, contrast, and mood—no color needed! Let the lines of the river or the peaks of the mountains guide your imagination as you craft a dramatic scene using only light and dark.

We will be at the Farmer’s Market in Logan from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

THE OUTSIDER
By Paul Slade Smith
"Ned Newley doesn't even want to be governor. He's terrified of public speaking; his poll numbers are impressively bad. To his ever-supportive Chief of Staff, Ned seems destined to fail. But political consultant Arthur Vance sees things differently: Ned might be the worst candidate to ever run for office. Unless the public is looking for... the worst candidate to ever run for office.
A timely and hilarious comedy that skewers politics and celebrates democracy."

GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL!
By Anthony King & Scott Brown
"In this two-man musical spoof, a pair of aspiring playwrights perform a backers' audition for their new, ill-advised project - a big, splashy musical about printing press inventor Johann Gutenberg. With an unending supply of enthusiasm, Bud (Richie Call) and Doug (Stefan Espinosa) sing all the songs and play all the parts in their crass historical epic, with the hope that one of the producers in attendance will give them that elusive Broadway contract."

The Fourth American Revolution: How to Create a More Perfect Union Out of our Polarized Politics
Lecture/Readings
Dr. Partrik Mason will address the question, How do we reclaim our politics from an era of fracture and polarization? By laying out steps: First, by looking to the lessons of America's first three revolutions -- the Founding, the Civil War, and the rights revolution of the 20th century. Then, by adding a healthy dose of peacemaking into our politics, we can all participate in a fourth revolution to bring about "a more perfect union."

Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI

Teaching now unfolds within an evolving educational landscape shaped by artificial intelligence, digital tools, and increasingly blended or asynchronous learning environments. These shifts influence how instructors design courses, how students engage with knowledge and build skills, and how learning is experienced. Teaching and Learning in the Age of AI invites educators to reflect on this changing terrain and to explore how thoughtful, intentional teaching practices sustain connection, curiosity, and meaningful learning experiences across physical and digital classrooms.
