The Bumpers College is comprised of eight academic departments and the School of Human
Environmental Sciences, each dedicated to student success through our college mission
and vision.
Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness
Department Head:
Lawton Lanier Nalley
Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness's close proximity to some of the largest employers
in the nation, such as Walmart, Tyson Foods, and J.B. Hunt, allows for unique internship
and networking opportunities for students.
Agricultural Education, Communication & Technology
Department Head: George Wardlow
Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology, AECT, is designed for students
to customize their career pathways.
Animal Science
Department Head:
Michael Looper
Animal Science is the science and management of domestic livestock, including beef
cattle, dairy cattle, horses, sheep, swine and companion animals.
Crop, Soil & Environmental Sciences
Department Head:
Paul DeLaune
The Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas
has a long and honored tradition of excellence in teaching, research and service.
The Department has produced a large number of successful graduates currently employed
in the public and private sectors.
Entomology & Plant Pathology
Department Head:
Ken Korth
The mission of the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University
of Arkansas is to conduct applied and basic research and provide related support and
to conduct high-quality teaching and student research programs leading to M.S. and
Ph.D. degrees. This department is accredited through the Graduate School of the University
of Arkansas by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
Food Science

The Department of Food Science fosters programs for achieving regional, national and
international excellence that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and technologies,
professional development and economic success of individuals and food and food-related
enterprises.
Horticulture
Department Head:
Mary Savin
The Department of Horticulture conducts applied and basic research and supports and
enhances the Arkansas horticulture industries, and conducts high quality teaching
and student research programs leading to B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.
School of Human Environmental Sciences
Department Head:
Donna Graham
Human Environmental Science majors focus on the basics of life—family, community,
food, clothing and environment. Understanding the basics is the science. Making them
better for yourself and for others is the art.
Poultry Science
Department Head:
David Caldwell
Poultry Science provides comprehensive programs in research, teaching, and extension
dedicated to improving the lives of Arkansans associated with all components of the
poultry industry by generating knowledge through research and putting that knowledge
to use through education.
