Welcome to the National Arts Council of South Africa
The National Arts Council (NAC) of South Africa is a statutory body established to support, develop, and promote the arts in South Africa. Operating under the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, the NAC plays a crucial role in funding and facilitating artistic and cultural initiatives that contribute to the country’s creative economy and heritage preservation.
Its mandate includes providing financial support to individuals and organisations across various artistic disciplines, fostering inclusivity and transformation within the arts sector. We advance the role of arts and culture in social cohesion and national development. Through strategic partnerships, grant programs, and advocacy efforts, the NAC aims to create an enabling environment for artists to thrive while ensuring that diverse artistic expressions are recognised and sustained both locally and internationally.
