Learning Excursions - Greater Atlanta Christian School
Learning Excursions
As we become global citizens, we attain greater insight.
Each year we carve out one week to extend our learning past the classroom into the greatest classroom of all—the globe.
Experiences become personal, ever-lasting memories for GAC students. Culture, history, and religion become tangible, and students graduate prepared—and also excited—for the real world that awaits them.
Starting from 6th grade, GAC molds our students into global citizens through the ever-evolving educational offerings. Students seize these global opportunities through several ways: learning excursions, study abroad, and mission trips.
Tampa, FL
Charleston, SC
Atlanta Service
Atlanta Local Industry Tour
New York City
Banff, Canada
Yosemite & Catalina Island
The College Experience: Gulf State Tour
Chicago, IL
Orlando, FL
This 9th Grade trip to Tampa, FL is a blend of adventure and nature. This group will explore the outdoors on an Adventure Course, Zip Line, and swim with manatees. More water fun will be had at Adventure Island Water Park. Students will enjoy lots of rides and seeing a variety of animals at Busch Gardens.
Explore the history and marine life of the enchanting coastal city of Charleston. Students will paddle board with dolphins, dig up fossils along the coast, and enjoy a boat ride. This group will learn about the history of the city on a Carriage Tour and Ghost Tour. Wander through Charleston City Market and visit the College of Charleston. Adventure, nature, and history await you!
This Atlanta-based excursion is a unique learning experience for students who would like to participate in service projects. It will take place during school day hours, with the central location being our own GAC campus. This trip exposes students to multiple ministries and non-profits in our metro-Atlanta community, as well as different modalities and aspects of service. In the past, we have worked with a local elementary school, churches in downtown Atlanta, and even nonprofits owned by GAC Alumni. Students will also participate in team-building activities, such as a ropes course, and the trip will culminate with a fun outing to celebrate our service.
Students will have an opportunity to tour and explore various professions, private industries, and major corporations headquartered around the Atlanta metroplex. Site visits, private tours, interviews, and experiential learning activities will introduce students to numerous career possibilities and expand their understanding of how Atlanta-based industries are innovating for the future.
This trip is designed for our performing art students. Explore NYC venues like the Apollo Theater and enjoy two professional shows. You will also have a chance to participate in workshops and a backstage tour. The Museum of Modern Art and Time Square is a must see!
This unique excursion is filled with the majestic sights of Banff National Park. Hike and explore the natural beauty of this area. Students will enjoy a boat cruise at Lake Minnewanka. Don't forget your camera, there are photo ops galore!
This trip is designed to be highly active and packed with fun! We'll spend our days outdoors - hiking, biking, kayaking, paddle boarding, playing beach volleyball, and other sports/games, swimming, and sightseeing. Yosemite National Park and Catalina Island both offer breathtaking views, fresh air, a natural playground, and an opportunity to explore.
Get ready for a fun filled trip touring College campuses across Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and back! Students will enjoy official college tours at Samford University, University of Alabama, Ole Miss, Tuskegee, Troy, LSU, Tulane and Auburn. Students will not only see University campuses and tour Stadiums, but will also experience a snapshot of each town as they begin to think about their college futures. Experience New Orleans, see the French Quarter, and eat at Cafe du Monde.
This exciting trip will allow students to explore history and art in the city of Chicago. Students can look forward to sightseeing on the Architecture River Cruise, and exploring the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Illusions, and the Field Museum.
