License Renewals | Kansas Dental Board
Scam Alert for Dentists and Dental Hygienists!
Be Aware of Fraudulent Calls, E-mails, and Letters Targeting Kansas Licensees:
Scammers are impersonating officials from the Kansas Dental Board, law enforcement, and federal agencies
They may claim you are under investigation or that your license is at risk
These scams are designed to intimidate and trick you into revealing sensitive information for sending money
What These Scams May Look Like:
Caller ID shows “Kansas Dental Board” or a government agency
Demands for immediate payment or threats of license suspension
Requests for DEA numbers, Social Security numbers, or banking information
Fake case numbers or forged documents appear legitimate
What to Know:
The Kansas Dental Board staff will never ask for personal or financial information by phone
We do not threaten arrest or immediate license suspension over the phone
All formal communication from the Board is sent in writing and can be verified
RENEWAL REMINDERS
1. Continuing Education
All hygienists will need 30 hours of CE, including 1 hour of ethics, since the last renewal, or 15 hours if this is the first renewal.
You may acquire all CE hours online. The Board automatically recognizes CE courses that have been approved through the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) or the Academy of General Dentistry Program Approval of Continuing Education (AGD PACE). There has never been a limit for the number of CE hours acquired online.
2. CPR
All CPR courses must have a hands-on portion. You may claim four (4) hours of CE for completing your CPR course.
3. Closing a License File
If you are retiring from practice or leaving Kansas and never intend to practice in Kansas again, you must inform the Board office in writing of your decision (
dental.info@ks.gov
). Once the Board office is notified of your decision, your license file will be closed and your obligation to the Board is complete.
4. Changing License Status from Active to Retired
If you want to change your license from active to retired status, you must request a paper renewal form (
dental.info@ks.gov
). When requesting the paper renewal form, you must explain why you need a copy of the form.
5. Legal Questions
If you are required to answer "Yes" in response to any legal question, you must request a paper renewal form (
dental.info@ks.gov
). When requesting the paper renewal form, you must explain why you need a copy of the form.
