As we step into a new academic year, I look forward to working alongside our incredible new board members to introduce fresh initiatives, such as our alumni networking event. We’re also bringing back cherished traditions such as class reunions that continue to strengthen our alumni community. Over the past few years, our focus has been on growth and expansion. Learn more and register here Alumni Volunteer Interest Form University Events Athletics Arts and Cultural Programs Alumni Awards The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to a graduate who has achieved a high level of success in their professional career and/or has made outstanding contributions to their community. The Loyal Alumni Award is presented to a graduate who consistently demonstrates loyalty and commitment to their alma mater, promotes the growth and success of the university and provides consistent philanthropic support. The Young Alumni Award is presented to a graduate of the past 15 years who has achieved extraordinary professional success and/or has a personal commitment to civic or humanitarian efforts. Preference is given to a graduate who has remained engaged with and supportive of their alma mater. Submit your Nomination 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award Katie Vogel ’10 Katie Vogel graduated from Stevenson Univeristy with her degree in Business Communications. Her career began at Agora Financial where she quickly rose to become the Chief Marketing Officer at Agora Publishing. In 2020, Katie left Agora to start her own company, Next Phase Media, a marketing and communications agency. While serving as founder and CEO of Next Phase Media, Katie decided to pursue her goal of helping women achieve their business and leadership goals. In 2023, she started 30 Day Leader, a leadership and career coaching business catered towards women. Katie has expertly used social media to drive 30 Day Leader to success. 2025 Loyal Alumni Award Susan Fisher Humphries ’70 Susan Fisher Humphries is a devoted alumna of Stevenson studied elementary education in the late 1960s. During her time at Villa Julie College, she met her best friend Allyson, for who her daughter is named. She skillfully taught kindergarten in Harford County for over three decades. Over the years, as her family grew, she never forgot her alma mater.  Her daughters Lauren and Allison both attended athletic summer camps on the Greenspring campus, long before either of them would follow in their mother’s footsteps, becoming Stevenson alumnae. A true Mustang family, Susan inspires others to remain connected and is always the first to volunteer for events when asked. For nearly 10 years she has served as the Storytime Reader during the Alumni Association’s annual Breakfast with Santa event. Susan and her family deepened their commitment to Stevenson, creating an annual scholarship in her honor. 2025 Young Alumni Award Emmanuel Essien ’20 Emmanuel Essien graduated from Stevenson University in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning. While at Stevenson, he was an outstanding student and athlete, exhibiting a strong work ethic. He interned with BFG Financial Advisors, and accepted a full-time role with the company upon graduation. Manny has quickly advanced in his career, earning his CFP, Series 66, and Series 7 licenses, progressed to an associate. He continues to support Stevenson University, participating as a speaker at career events and mentoring students. He is a member of the Business Administration Advisory Board and the Alumni Association Board, and contributes to The Brotman Financial Group Emergency Scholarship Fund at Stevenson. Alumni Association The Stevenson University Alumni Association exists to create a strong and vibrant network of alumni who work to advance themselves and the SU community by participating in current University events while connecting themselves with fellow alumni. The Alumni Association encourages alumni involvement in events and giving and is opened to all alumni of Stevenson University and Villa Julie College. Who is in the Alumni Association? The Stevenson University Alumni Association is composed of all graduates of the institution’s undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs. The Alumni Association is led by the members of the Alumni Association Board. There are many ways to be involved with the Alumni Association. Alumni are encouraged to connect with the Alumni Association online in order to stay in touch with friends and classmates. Alumni are also encouraged to attend events, volunteer as a speaker, mentor a student, initiate a corporate partnership in your workplace, or cheer on one of Stevenson’s many sports teams.
