Can I join the You First program?
You can become a You First Member if all of these apply:
You live in Vermont.
You’re at least 21 years old.
You have (or have had) breasts or a cervix, or need preventative breast or cervical cancer screenings.
You meet our income guidelines. For example, you are eligible with an income of up to $39,900 as an individual and $68,300 as a household of three.
Income guidelines
To be eligible for You First, your income must be within certain levels, which are updated each year in January. We base the income levels on the number of people who live in your home.
Your income means the total amount of money you and any other adult in your home earned from a job or other sources. We count your income before taxes and other deductions (like health insurance).
If this many people live in your home...
You CAN earn UP TO this amount of money in 2026:
1
$39,900 per year
This equals:
$3,325 each month
Or $767 each week
2
$54,100 per year
This equals:
$4,508 each month
Or $1,040 each week
3
$68,300 per year
This equals:
$5,692 each month
Or $1,313 each week
4
$82,500 per year
This equals:
$6,875 each month
Or $1,587 each week
5
$96,700 per year
This equals:
$8,058 each month
Or $1,860 each week
6
$110,900 per year
This equals:
$9,242 each month
Or $2,133 each week
More questions about You First eligibility
If I have health insurance, can I use You First?
Yes, if you have Medicaid, Medicare Part B, or other health insurance, you can use You First services as long as you meet the other eligibility requirements.
You First is not able to pay for screening services for members with Medicare Part B. Members ages 35-64 are eligible to use the lifestyle programs.
If I’m a transgender woman or man, can I get cancer screenings?
You First can pay for breast and cervical cancer screenings when it's clinically appropriate and recommended by a health care provider—and when all other You First eligibility requirements are met.
Talk to your health care provider about the benefits and risks of screening to decide if it’s right for you. We can also speak with you about what services you may be eligible for.
