Hanoi, April 20, 2026 – VinUniversity has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with SK South East Asia Investment PTE. LTD., marking a significant milestone in strengthening industry–academia collaboration for sustainable energy innovation. The agreement initiates a strategic research partnership led by VinUni’s Center for Environmental Intelligence (CEI), with an initial funding commitment of
USD 300,000.
“This partnership reflects the trust that SK Vietnam has placed in VinUni’s academic and research excellence. It is an important step to build a long-term collaboration that contributes to both regional innovation and global sustainability goals”_shared by Prof. Sunmee Choi, Vice Provost of External Engagement, VinUniversity.
The collaboration aims to develop advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for energy systems and electric mobility infrastructure, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in the global transition toward sustainable and intelligent energy networks.
“With rapidly changing global energy dynamics driven by geopolitical tensions, we are seeing a fundamental shift toward renewable solutions. We believe this collaboration gives us a real opportunity to address these challenges responsibly for the next generation, and we are fully committed to making it a success.”_highlighted by Mr. Han Michael, Representative of SK Vietnam Office.
“We are planning to work on the most advanced electrical and cooling systems to minimize energy costs, minimize the impact on the grid, and minimize the amount of energy the countries must buy from outside. This is how we aim to address the region’s energy challenges in a sustainable and responsible way. It is all about building strong partnerships in Asia, with agendas aligned across countries. We are also proud to empower the next generation—supported by strong faculty and student talent—to solve the challenges ahead, with our immediate focus on successfully delivering the first projects.” _shared by Prof. Laurent El Ghaoui, Vice Provost of Research and Innovation, VinUniversity.
With this collaboration, the research is expected to deliver a range of impactful outcomes, including advanced AI models and optimization algorithms, digital twin platforms for energy management and EV charging systems, scientific publications, and potential patents and technology prototypes.
