A welcome message from
Bishop Vincent Long
Welcome to the Diocese of Parramatta. I am honoured, humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Church in Parramatta. As guided by my motto
“go further into the deep” (Lk 5:4)
, I am pleased that we cast into the deep interior of Western Sydney, all the way to the beautiful Blue Mountains and the fertile plains of the Hawkesbury River.

Special Year of St Francis
Catholics across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains are invited to renew their commitment to peace, reconciliation and care for creation during the Special Year of St Francis (January 2026 – January 2027), proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV to mark 800 years since the death of St Francis of Assisi.
The Franciscan Jubilee Year holds particular significance for the Diocese of Parramatta, where the Franciscan spirit is deeply woven into the life of the local Church through our Franciscan bishop, and several Franciscan friars, religious sisters and lay communities. All the faithful are invited to renew the Franciscan way of living simply, caring for creation, and becoming peacemakers in our communities.

Bishop Vincent Presents: Archbishop Jimenez
We are pleased to welcome our next guest in the
Bishop Vincent Presents
series:
Archbishop Ryan Jimenez
, Archbishop of Agaña in Guam and President of the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific.
Join us for an evening with Archbishop Jimenez as he reflects on the theme
“An Immigrant Bishop for an Immigrant Church.”
Archbishop Jimenez has been a strong advocate for the peoples of the Pacific, often highlighting the realities faced by island communities, including migration, inequality and the growing impact of climate change.
In 2025, during a private audience with Pope Leo in Rome, he spoke about the devastating effects of rising sea levels on many Pacific nations and the displacement of communities forced to seek new homes abroad.
