The Great Car Thing
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!
The
Great Car Thing
is back for its 31st year on
Saturday, June 13, 2026
from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This year’s party features a 1969 Corvette C3 Stingray.
Tickets are $125.00 and include entry for two for an evening of fun, food, drinks, music, and a chance to win $10,000! Only 250 tickets will be sold, so buy yours today! Can’t make it to the party? You’re still eligible for the grand prize drawing.

Poet Beth Frigard will guide another session using Haiku or short prose on April 25 at 1 p.m. This will connect with the newly reinstalled exhibit: Milestones of Life. Registration required. $5.00 fee, refreshments and materials provided.

Sign up to learn Gyotaku, the Japanese art of fish printing. Class fee is $5 and materials will be provided. May 16, 2026 from 1pm-3pm.

Take a walk through time and discover treasures from the past. The Chemung County Historical Society “brings history alive” through interpretive exhibitions, education programs, and publications that tell the county’s history.
The Chemung County Historical is located at 415 East Water Street in the heart of downtown Elmira, New York. The museum is approximately 15 miles east of Corning, 30 miles south of Ithaca, and 55 miles west of Binghamton.
The Chemung County Historical Society is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and receives funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.
