Big News for NYC Youth and Families!
DYCD is proud to announce 121 new Comprehensive After School System of New York City (COMPASS) programs launching in community centers across all five boroughs in Fall 2026. Together with the school-based programs to be announced soon, this milestone represents the largest Request for Proposals in our history and the first major expansion of the City’s afterschool system in more than a decade.
These programs advance Mayor Mamdani’s vision for a more equitable, affordable and safe New York City. Through this work, we are strengthening the connection between youth and community development, creating environments where young people are not only supported but empowered to reach their full potential.
COMPASS after-school programs offer:
Free access to academics, recreation, enrichment and cultural experiences
Opportunities for youth to build skills, confidence and leadership
Safe, supportive spaces where youth can learn, connect and grow beyond the school day
Awardees for school-based programs will be announced in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
