Duration
2 Years
Eligibility
Degree with Honours in Music (any form of music). Those who have passed Certificate courses/Diploma Courses from affiliated Colleges under any recognized University, Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Music from any recognized University having regular Graduate Honours in any subject from any recognized University are eligible. Those who are Degree (Honours) passed in any subject and coming from ‘Parampara’ system may be considered.

MA in Music is a 2-year postgraduate degree
program that deals with the study of music.
The course offers both theoretical and practical
aspects of the study.
It covers everything from understanding the
origin, history to the form of music practiced in
present times.
There are people who are passionate about music
and who want to take up music professionally in
the future.
MA in Music offers them a degree-based education
in education that can help them set up a career in
various areas of music.
This is mainly a specialization course for those
aspiring to study the theory and roots of music
and also practicing music for its value.

Admission Modalities
The Admission Modalities are with reference to the
campus-based programs offered by the ICFAI University,
Meghalaya at Tura & Shillong campuses. The medium of
instruction is English.
Eligibility
Graduation with an aggregate of 45%. Final year degree
students awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
For the purpose of determining eligibility based on
aggregate percentage of marks, the procedure used by the
respective university in award of the degree will only
be taken into consideration. All applicants should have
completed a minimum of 15 years of formal schooling by
July 18, 2026. Applicants who have completed their
graduation on a one-time sitting basis or on a 2-year
basis are not eligible for admission to the MA(Music)
Program.
Students in their final year bachelor's degree course
are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their
graduation requirements including practical
examinations/viva assignments before July 18, 2026. Such
applicants will have to produce a certificate to that
effect at the time of admission. The admission of
applicants will, however, remain provisional until they
produce mark sheets and a degree certificate
establishing their eligibility. The registration of the
candidates not meeting the criteria / non-submission of
graduation transcripts by September 16, 2026 will be
cancelled and admission fee will be forfeited and only
50% of the semester fee will be refunded after notifying
the cancellation of the seat by the University.
Spot admission will be given to deserving students.
The selection of applicants into the Program is
made through screening of application and
interview. While evaluating students for
admission, due weightage is given to their
academic distinction, awards in sports/cultural
events, debates, quizzes and other extra
co-curricular activities
Original certificates and Domicile certificate
should be produced for verification at the time
of payment of first semester fee. The original
certificates will be returned after
verification.
There shall be a special provision for admission
of students belonging to the State of Meghalaya
in any course of ICFAI University, Meghalaya,
which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five)
percent of seats in each course / discipline
subject to the students meeting the minimum
qualifying requirements referred to above.
Seats remaining unfilled under special
reservation may be filled up by allotting the
same to students belonging to Open Category.

Registration charges by using Credit / Debit
Card (Visa / Master Card / Citibank Card) or
Internet banking option using secure
internet payment gateway. Applicants
applying online should attach their scanned
colour photograph along with the Online
Application. The Prospectus will be sent to
such applicants.

and send it to the Admissions Office.
The applicants are advised to read the
guidelines carefully before completing the
Application Form for Admission.

be done by any Gazetted Officer/Principal of the
College).
Date of Birth Certificate/Class X Certificate.
Marksheet of Class XII/Degree certificate (as

Fee Schedule
Fee comprises of Admission Fee and Program Fee.
Admission Fee (Non-Refundable)
Admission Fee of Rs. 15,000 for MA(Music) Program is to
be paid by all the selected candidates immediately after
the admission decision is announced. *Foreign students
have to pay an admission fee of Rs. 14,000 for MA(Music)
Program. The last date for payment of admission fee is
August 10, 2026 for MA(Music) Program.
Caution Deposit (Refundable)
Students have to pay Rs. 5,000 for MA(Music) Programs as
Caution Deposit along with the first installment of
Program Fee. The Caution Deposit will be refunded
without interest after adjusting for dues, if any, to
the students on completion of the Program.

each semester, as per the due dates which will be
indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester
fee is to be paid on or before August 17, 2026 for
MA(Music) Program.
