Columbia Basin College’s Strategic Plan, Inclusivo: Hawks Soaring Together, will guide

ensure all voices are heard, all people are represented, and all students are provided

The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) maintains
an online collection of research and resources, which includes helpful lists of commonly
used DEI-related words and their definitions.
DEI Terms
CBC DEI Council
The purpose of the DEI Council is to uphold Columbia Basin College’s DEI Value statement.
Our committee affirms and celebrates the ongoing work at CBC and will raise awareness
of existing and informal barriers to diversity and inclusivity and will advocate towards
systemic change to create greater equity for non-dominant populations at CBC.
Columbia Basin College’s DEI Value Statement is as follows:
We celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion in all its forms, and we believe that
our many unique perspectives make us stronger. Diversity among our team enriches our
institution and our students’ experience. We are dedicated to eliminating barriers
to success through intentional and equitable efforts to provide quality learning opportunities.
