B.A. Mass Communication is aimed at developing the next generation of content creators and 360-degree digital media professionals. The B.A. Mass Communication program offered by the Times School of Media is a (3+1) year degree program. Students are awarded the B.A. Mass Communication Degree on successful completion of all compulsory courses that total 120 credits. They also have the option to study an additional year and earn an Honours degree with a total of 160 credits.
The pedagogy can be grouped under five heads: Conceptual learning, Building Skillset, Knowledge of Liberal Arts, Developing General Awareness, Critical Thinking, and Practical Learning through Projects. These well-defined layers will shape the learning, knowledge, and personality of a student.
The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the Choice-based Credit System. It has been curated by the top Editors of the Times Group and its focus is to provide skill-based education.

5. Infrastructure:
The infrastructure of the Times School of Media has been built under the guidance of Times Group professionals. Times Now engineers built the Television Studio while the Radio Studio was built with the help of Radio Mirchi engineers.
Students get a flavour of the industry by getting hands-on experience with the Times Group’s state-of-the-art Content Management System. This is the same application used by the Times Group Editors in running the largest media network in India.

Television Studio
Built under the guidance of Times Now, the Television Studio is equipped with a three-camera setup and a state-of-the-art production control room (PCR). The PCR is equipped with a Vision Mixer to handle a three-camera feed, an Apple Mac for editing, and four LED screens for output. The Studio also has a teleprompter to help students anchor news bulletins and shows.
Radio Studio
The Radio Studio, built with the help of Radio Mirchi, is an acoustically designed and fully equipped studio that provides students ample space and atmosphere for Radio production. The studio space consists of a recording room and a control room. The control room is equipped with a Multi-Channel Mixing Console, Speakers, Talkback, and Cubase recording software for recording, mixing, and monitoring sound. The Radio production facilities enable students to learn the art of recording and mixing sounds and voice-over techniques.

Mobile-first lab used by students to create multimedia content for smartphone users.
iMac and Windows Labs
The school has two iMac labs and one Windows PCs labs. Each lab has 30 computers with the required software installed.

There are eight Times Group companies that have pooled in their domain expertise to create this unique program. About 40% of teaching is classroom-based, and 60% of the time is dedicated to acquiring practical skills in state-of-the-art labs. The teaching pedagogy includes training students through presentations, workshops, case studies, market research, and field trips.

B.A. Mass Communication
B.A. Mass Communication is aimed at developing the next generation of content creators and 360-degree digital media professionals. The B.A. Mass Communication program offered by the Times School of Media is a (3+1) year degree program. Students are awarded the B.A. Mass Communication Degree on successful completion of all compulsory courses that total 120 credits. They also have the option to study an additional year and earn an Honours degree with a total of 160 credits.
The pedagogy can be grouped under five heads: Conceptual learning, Building Skillset, Knowledge of Liberal Arts, Developing General Awareness, Critical Thinking, and Practical Learning through Projects. These well-defined layers will shape the learning, knowledge, and personality of a student.
The curriculum has been designed keeping in mind the requirements of the Choice-based Credit System. It has been curated by the top Editors of the Times Group and its focus is to provide skill-based education.

Students across all programmes are offered mandatory internships. This is valuable learning for the students because they get hands-on experience and learn from the best in the media industry.
5. Infrastructure:
The infrastructure of the Times School of Media has been built under the guidance of Times Group professionals. Times Now engineers built the Television Studio while the Radio Studio was built with the help of Radio Mirchi engineers.
Students get a flavour of the industry by getting hands-on experience with the Times Group’s state-of-the-art Content Management System. This is the same application used by the Times Group Editors in running the largest media network in India.

Studios, Labs and Software
Television Studio
Built under the guidance of Times Now, the Television Studio is equipped with a three-camera setup and a state-of-the-art production control room (PCR). The PCR is equipped with a Vision Mixer to handle a three-camera feed, an Apple Mac for editing, and four LED screens for output. The Studio also has a teleprompter to help students anchor news bulletins and shows.
Radio Studio
The Radio Studio, built with the help of Radio Mirchi, is an acoustically designed and fully equipped studio that provides students ample space and atmosphere for Radio production. The studio space consists of a recording room and a control room. The control room is equipped with a Multi-Channel Mixing Console, Speakers, Talkback, and Cubase recording software for recording, mixing, and monitoring sound. The Radio production facilities enable students to learn the art of recording and mixing sounds and voice-over techniques.

Mobile-first lab used by students to create multimedia content for smartphone users.
iMac and Windows Labs
The school has two iMac labs and one Windows PCs labs. Each lab has 30 computers with the required software installed.

Q. How is the Times of India Group involved in curating/delivering of BA MC program?
The Times of India Group plays a crucial role in designing, monitoring, and running the media programs. There are eight Times Group companies that have pooled in their domain expertise to create this unique program. They include: The Times of India, Times Now, Radio Mirchi, Times Internet Limited, Mediawire, Junglee Pictures, MX Player, Zoom TV.
Mass Communication students at Bennett University have access to a live industry environment for their laboratories, studios, and practical learning. With such powerful support, Times School of Media aspires to be the Best Media School in the world.
Q. What is unique about BA MC course at BU?
The fact that the program is backed by the Times Group makes it the most exciting program. The kind of industry and practical exposure that students get is unmatched as they get the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art Times group studios, printing press, guest lectures by senior editors and journalists as part of their course curriculum.
Students while pursuing the program get the opportunity to get hands-on training on Content Management System which is used by the timesofindia.com to create their student website www.timesofbennett.com. While designing their student newspaper, Times of Bennett, students use the same page designing software as in the Times of India.
Q. What is the ratio of theory and practical classes for the program?
About 40% of teaching is classroom-based, and 60% of the time is dedicated to acquiring practical skills in state-of-the-art labs. The teaching pedagogy includes training students through presentations, workshops, case studies, market research, and field trips.
Q. Is Times Group infra-available for students of BU for learning and development?
Industry Tours are organized in various studios of Times Group for students to experience the real-world scenario of media. Students get the opportunity to visit the studios of Times Now and Radio Mirchi, Times Internet office and printing press of Times of India. Through such visits, they can connect the academic knowledge with groundwork, thus enhancing their understanding and strengthening the learning.
Bennett University students regularly participate in large scale events and projects as Hosts, Anchors, Reporters, Production Support staff and more giving them live industry experience.

All students are required to do one internship during the 3-year program. It is usually scheduled during the summer break between Sem IV-V. Students have the option to do the Internship during the summer break between Sem II-III as well. It is of 6-8 weeks and is organized by the University.

The students can earn an Honours degree by completing a group of Honours courses with 30 credits. These 30 credits are in addition to 120 credits. The pinnacle of the Honors programme is the opportunity to specialise in the sixth semester. Q. What is Times of Bennett?
Times of Bennett is a student newspaper that is published weekly as an 8 pages broadsheet. All the stories are covered by students of events and happenings in and around the campus. For this session, students have published 10 editions of the paper every 3rd day. Students get to prepare the newspaper on the same Content Management System which is used in The Times of India. This gives students real-life exposure to working in the print media.
