DSO-AISG Incentive Award Programme!
The DSO-AISG Incentive Award Programme is a joint initiative between AI Singapore (AISG) and DSO, designed to inspire post-graduate students to explore research related to large language models (LLMs). Our goal is to cultivate a new generation of Singaporean AI engineers and researchers with expertise in LLM foundation model development, while fostering practical skills through impactful research in key areas related to LLMs.
The award is bond-free and is open to Singaporean Citizens pursuing Masters and PhD programmes (including part-time programmes) in universities all around the world.
Duration of Award
: Maximum duration of 12 months or until the expiry/termination of the Masters candidature, as per determined by their respective institution, whichever earlier.
Monthly allowance of SGD2K
Conference allowance of SGD6K per academic year, which can be utilised for up to 2
conference trips (subject to approval)
One-round trip allowance for students currently pursuing further studies overseas
Compute Credits (quantum will be subject to approval)
Duration of Award: Until the end of the PhD candidature, as determined by their respective institution, or the end date of this award, whichever is earlier.
6 month internship of your choice with either AISG (SEA-LION team) or DSO, with an
allowance of SGD10K per month
Conference allowance of SGD6K per academic year, which can be utilised for up to 2
conference trips (subject to approval)
One-round trip allowance for students currently pursuing further studies overseas
Overseas Attachment Allowance (applicable to awardees who secure attachments to
work overseas with researchers of global standing, subject to approval from the DSO-
AISG committee)
Compute Credits (quantum will be subject to approval)
Note
Both Masters and PhD recipients of the DSO-AISG Incentive Award will be able to:
Get access to opportunities to work with the SEA-LION team
Get access to opportunities to present your research findings to leading LLM researchers
in AISG and DSO
Apply for compute credits to support their LLM-related projects and experiments
WHO CAN APPLY
Any Singapore citizen pursuing part-time or full-time Masters/PhD in any university (local or overseas)
Applicants must have at least 6 months before their Masters/PhD program ends
At least a GPA of Second Upper or equivalent in their respective university
Track record of research or project-related activities in these topic areas will be considered favourably
Strong interest in the Large Language Model space, with demonstrated intent to enter research activities in the following areas:
– Efficient AI Training
– Secure and Responsible AI
– Improving AI Performance
– Multimodal LLMs
– Agentic AI
Applicants may also choose to incorporate new and exciting techniques outside the current popular autoregressive transformer-based LLMs, including (but not limited to) auto-encoding LLMs and mixture of experts etc into their research in these topic areas. They are expected to work on new and exciting fundamental research to advance the state of LLMs.
