Overview
The
Louisiana Health Insurance Premium Payment (LaHIPP)
Program helps people and families save money on health insurance premiums.
If you qualify, LaHIPP can pay you back for:
Your job-based or individual health insurance premiums.
Some health care costs, such as your co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
Using private insurance usually costs less than paying for all care through Medicaid. LaHIPP helps pay for your insurance premium, making health care more affordable for your family.
Applying for LaHIPP is simple. If you are approved, your Medicaid benefits stay the same.
Your health care costs will be paid through Medicaid's fee-for-service program instead of a managed care plan.
Behavioral health services will still be handled through your managed care plan. Also, dental services will still be handled through your dental plan.
Who Can Qualify
You or someone in your family must:
Be eligible for or enrolled in Medicaid, and
Have or be able to get job-based or individual health insurance
Benefits
