Ph. D. Programme in
1. Faculty of Commerce & Management
2. Faculty of Computer Science & Applications
3. Faculty of Engineering & Technology
4. Faculty of Pharmacy
5. Faculty of Science
6. Faculty of Social Work
Program Duration
Ph. D Programme shall be for a minimum duration of three (3) years, including course work, and a maximum duration of six (6) years from the date of admission to the Ph. D programme.
Eligibility Criteria
A master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline from a recognised university with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade
OR
A 4-year bachelor’s degree programme or equivalent in relevant discipline from a recognised university with atleast 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
OR
An M.Phil degree from a recognised university with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.
Candidates appearing in the final year Degree examination can also apply, provided they furnish proof of meeting the minimum eligibility criteria at the time of joining the programme.
Course Work Requirements
The candidate registered for Ph.D. Programme in (Full-Time/Part-Time) will have to undergo a pre-requisite course work of 12 credits.
1. Research Methodology (RM) (05 Credits)
2. Research & Publication Ethics (RE) (02 Credits)
3. Self-Study Course (SC) (05 Credits)
Application Procedure
Eligible candidates, who intend to take admission for PhD are required to apply in a prescribed online application form along with a non-refundable processing fee of Rs.1500/-.
The payment should be made online by credit card/debit card/net banking.
Presentation/Viva-Voce
The selection criterion for the admission in PhD programme are as under:
1. For all the candidates qualified in the written test and candidates exempted from written test, a viva-voce will organised by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before Department Doctoral Research Committee or equivalent.
2. The viva-voce shall consider the following aspects:
the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research.
the research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution.
the proposed area of research can contribute to New/additional Knowledge
Final Selection Criteria
The final selection will be based on weightage of 70% to the entrance test and weightage of 30% in the viva-voce.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
Fellowship
– The scholarship may be awarded to meritorious students for doing Full-Time Ph. D as per University Rules and Regulations.
– Part-time and sponsored research scholars shall not be awarded any research fellowship/assistantship by the University.
– Fellowship under SHODH Scheme offered by Government of Gujarat (For Two Years Only) for Full-Time Ph. D Scholars.
– Other financial assistance will be governed as per university rules and regulations.
– Full-Time Research scholar has to report at the University on regular basis.
– The University will support the research scholar for POC & IPR Support as per University Rules and Regulations.
