Return to Regular Order on LNG Exports
America is blessed with abundant energy resources –
we are the world’s top oil and gas producer and a net energy exporter for the first time in decades
. Our energy abundance is an asset, not a liability. On January 20, the Department resumed consideration of pending applications to
export American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to countries without a free trade agreement (FTA) with the U.S.
in accordance with the Natural Gas Act. Proper consideration of LNG export applications is required by law and shall proceed accordingly.

Natural Gas: A Vital Resource
Natural gas plays a crucial role in millions of American homes, offering several key benefits that make it an essential energy source:
Reliability During Power Outages:
Natural gas service typically continues even when electrical power is disrupted. Homes with gas heating, cooking, and hot water systems can maintain essential functions during electrical outages, providing peace of mind during storms or emergencies.
Increased Home Value:
Homes equipped with natural gas often have higher resale values, as many homebuyers specifically look for properties with gas heating and appliances due to their efficiency and performance benefits.
Versatility:
Beyond heating, natural gas powers multiple home systems and amenities including water heaters, clothes dryers, fireplaces, outdoor grills, and even pool heaters - offering homeowners flexibility and convenience.
Continuous Supply:
Unlike propane or heating oil that require monitoring and refilling, natural gas is delivered continuously through underground pipelines, eliminating the need for storage tanks or delivery scheduling.
