Birla School of Applied Sciences

The Birla School of Applied Sciences (BSAS), Birla Global University offers academic, research, training, and extension programmes to train the students with industry-relevant skills, knowledge and understanding. Data Science involves analysing data by using automated methods and extract insights that help in making strategic business solutions. Data Scientists are the modern day heroes who will perform this job, and their demand is increasing exponentially.
B.Sc. Hons. (Data Science) is a 3 year full-time course that comes under the domains of Computer Science, Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Data Science is an interdisciplinary subject that includes the use of Statistics, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning and related aspects in order to understand the problem or phenomena with respect to a set of real-world data. This course is greatly appreciated among students in India and Abroad due to its progressively high importance and diverse future scope in tech companies, consultancies, market research companies and energy sector.
B.Sc. Data Science(Hons.) is intended to provide a comprehensive knowledge of big data techniques, and their applications for effective decision making in improving business processes. The main attraction of the programme is live projects during 3rd year in which students will explore their knowledge while working on real-world business problems.

Q2. What is the process of admission to the program?
Eligible candidate needs to fill online form with the prescribed fee. The admission department will inform about next steps.
Q3. Can a student apply for admission if the results for qualifying examination are awaited?
Yes, Students appearing in the qualifying examination can apply. However, their admission shall be provisional and subject to confirmation upon obtaining qualifying marks.
Q4. What is the deadline for admission?
The last date for submitting completed application form is given in Admission Brochure and on university website.
Q5. What are the different payment options available for taking the admission?
Demand Draft, Cheque, Credit Card and online payment facilities are available.
Q6. Does BGU arrange educational loan?
The courses are credible and popular. Educational loans are provided by all nationalized banks. Students have to approach the Bank of their choice.
Q7. Is there any scholarship/ fee waiver/ free-ship for the meritorious students?
Yes, according to the University norms.
Q8. What is minimum attendance requirement to appear in semester examinations?
Minimum attendance requirement to appear in the end-term examination in each semester is 75%.

Yes. Faculty members assign different live projects and discuss relevant cases to connect theory to practice. Students are also guided to visit industries and locations for practical exposure.

Yes. Dissertation is a requirement of the degree as per the course curriculum
