Description
Our Environmental Science (ESCI) bachelor’s degree program is a perfect blend of theory and skill development combined with practical field experience and on-the-job training towards improved policy and practice in addressing local and global challenges like climate change, pollution, land use change, water and energy sustainability, biodiversity loss and others.
Program Benefits
Students interested in environmental protection and advocacy are given a unique opportunity to master their understanding of the ecosystems that support human-wellbeing and that require urgent human intervention while delving into the complexity of the economic, social and cultural behaviors that impact those systems.
The ESCI program also provides critical training in writing, analysis and research development and execution; these allow graduates to offer advice on policy development for the protection of the natural environment that underpins our socioeconomic development. In the ESCI program, students learn to prepare policy briefs, develop conference posters, present at regional and national conferences, research sustainability issues and develop sustainability strategies for local communities, and work with leading public, private, and community agencies in the field of environmental management.
Students are taught in Belize’s natural environment, by experienced Environmentalists, Policy Advisors and Organizational Leaders. They learn to:
Develop a professional network of colleagues in one of the largest employable sectors;
Participate in actual industry research and influence contemporary policy development;
Partner with visiting researchers and other environmental students from abroad;
Prepare and deliver conference posters and research findings;
Transition smoothly into graduate school anywhere, globally.

My experience in the Environmental Science program has been one of a kind. The program allows students to delve into the environmental challenges of Belize and the world. Through theory and application, students are granted the opportunity to have firsthand experience with these challenges and devise strategic mitigation strategies. I strongly advise students who desire to make a difference in environmental protection to enroll in Galen University’s Environmental Science program.
