Welcome to the Dickinson State University Campus Safety website. DSU Campus safety
has been entrusted with maintaining a safe and secure environment for all those who
live, work and visit our Campus. This is accomplished through active patrolling and
monitoring of campus by DSU Security, partnerships with local first responders, and
through awareness programs to better equip our campus community to react to an ever-changing
world.
The strength of any safety program begins with you. You, as a student, staff member,
faculty member or even a visitor utilize campus every day, you know what normal behavior
on campus is and what is concerning. If you see something that is out of the ordinary
and feel it should be checked on, report it. If you aren’t sure, report it. Utilize
the link below to make a written report but remember, this method of reporting is
not immediately monitored. If you have any immediate safety concerns, call the DSU
Campus Safety number at
701-290-1068
to speak with Campus Safety 24/7. If you feel you or someone else is in danger,
call
911
right away.

Annual security and fire safety reports are prepared to comply with the Jeanne Clery
Campus Safety Act. The Annual Security & Fire Safety Report compiles specific information
including crime prevention, fire safety, law enforcement authority, crime reporting
policies, disciplinary procedures, and other importance matters related to campus
security and safety. This report also has information about campus crime statistics
and resources to aid you in being safety minded. We encourage everyone in our campus
community to use this report as a guide for safe practices on and off campus.
A copy of the Daily Crime & Fire Report can be viewed in person at the Campus Safety

It is the policy of Dickinson State University that all injuries, incidents, or hazards
including near misses occurring on University property, be properly reported and investigated.
All incidents must be reported to the DSU Campus Safety Office with 24 hours. Reporting
incidents is critical for the investigation and allows for appropriate action to be
taken to prevent reoccurrence. This policy applies to all University employees, students,
contractors, and visitors when engaged in a University activity taking place on or
off campus.
Employees must report all injuries, incidents, accidents and near misses that occur
on DSU property immediately to their supervisor. DSU has a 24-hour reporting requirement.
The supervisor should report the incident to the DSU Campus Safety Office and assist
the reporting employee in completing the accident investigation form.

The Campus Safety office is the main site for lost and found valuables (electronics,
ID cards, other property). If you find an unattended item, bring it to the Information
Desk, and we’ll try to find the owner. If we can’t find the owner, we’ll add the property
to our found items list, noting where it was found.
