The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), in collaboration with the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, organised the
Telangana Chapter of the CAG–ICSSR Colloquium Series
on “State of the Finances of Telangana” & “Health Sector of Telangana” on 25 Feb 2026 at Osmania University, Hyderabad. The Colloquium saw vibrant participation from students & young researchers through interactive Q&A sessions on fiscal federalism, public finance & health governance.
The
CAG–ICSSR National Research Article Competition
was also announced, inviting UG & PG students to engage with audit data for policy-relevant research — with
awards up to ₹1.25 lakh
to be presented in New Delhi.
The distinguished speakers at the colloquium included
Prof. (Retd.) T. Tirupati Rao,
Council Member, ICSSR, New Delhi & Former Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University, Hyderabad;
Smt. P. Madhavi
, IA&AS, Principal Accountant General (Audit), Telangana;
Dr. V. M. Sarma Jana
, Former Professor, School of Economics, University of Hyderabad;
Dr. Sanjay Rao Kamineni
, IA&AS, Senior Deputy Accountant General (Audit Management Group–II), Telangana; and
Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak
, Professor, School of Public Policy and Governance, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad. They highlighted fiscal trends, health sector governance, and the value of audit data in strengthening accountability.
Prof. (Retd.) T. Tirupati Rao, Council Member, ICSSR, highlighted CAG reports as a “gold mine” for evidence-based policy research. Smt. P. Madhavi shared key fiscal audit insights, while Dr. V. M. Sarma Jana discussed Telangana’s growth alongside devolution concerns. Dr. Sanjay Rao Kamineni flagged health sector gaps including vacancies & high C-section rates, and Dr. Bibhu Prasad Nayak emphasised using audit data to strengthen health equity & governance.
The discussions underscored the potential of academic engagement with audit findings to enhance fiscal transparency, improve public service delivery, and support informed policy decisions.
