Killin Wetlands Nature Park
Streams, forests, fish and wildlife cross boundaries between cities and counties. Metro’s system of more than 19,000 acres of parks and natural areas provides a region-wide approach that gives nature the space and care it needs to thrive.
Metro collaborates with local governments, conservation organizations and community groups to support and fund neighborhood-level parks and nature projects. Together with partners, Metro works toward:
Cleaner, cooler water
: Metro restores river habitat and water flows that help keep entire water systems cooler, cleaner and healthier for fish and people.
Healthy, connected habitat
: Metro works to ensure that the plant and animal species native to this region have access to interconnected natural areas where they can safely live and migrate.
Access to nature
: Metro helps connect people to nature through a system of parks, trails and historic cemeteries. A robust grants program supports parks, restoration and nature education at the local level.
Planning for future generations
: Metro collaborates with other jurisdictions and conservation organizations to create and implement strategies to help nature adapt to human-made problems, including climate change and invasive species.
