Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission | Metro About this committee The Metropolitan Exposition Recreation Commission (MERC) serves as a catalyst for culture, community and economic vitality for Oregon and the Portland metropolitan region through leadership, advocacy and expert management of public event venues. Meeting series MERC typically meets the first Wednesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. Recruitment MERC is not currently recruiting new members. Membership Commissioners are appointed by the Metro Council upon recommendation from local area governments. The commission includes seven members representing the city of Portland, Metro, and one each for Clackamas, Multnomah and Washington counties. The commissioners serve four-year terms.
